Heavy-duty protection for small dogs

Big protection in a small package. Frontline Plus for Small Dogs (Orange Box) is the spot-on treatment built for dogs and puppies weighing 5–22 lbs — killing fleas, flea eggs, flea larvae, ticks and chewing lice with a single monthly application.

Kills fleas, ticks & chewing lice Waterproof after 24 hours One dose lasts 30 days

For dogs & puppies 8 weeks and older, weighing 5–22 lbs.

About this item

  • Breaks the flea life cycle — kills adult fleas, flea eggs and flea larvae, so an infestation can't rebuild itself
  • Fast-acting — a manufacturer study showed 100% of fleas killed within 12 hours1
  • Kills all tick life stages — brown dog, American dog, lone star and deer ticks, including ticks that may transmit Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, ehrlichiosis and anaplasmosis
  • Kills chewing lice and aids in the control of sarcoptic mange
  • Waterproof — once dry, bathing, swimming and rain won't wash it off
  • Safe for puppies from 8 weeks old, and for breeding, pregnant and nursing dogs
  • No prescription needed — one easy application per month

Why choose Frontline Plus for your dog

🐾

Complete flea control

Adults die fast, and the growth regulator stops eggs and larvae ever reaching adulthood — in your dog's coat and around your home.

🛡️

Tick & lice defence

Covers all four major tick species at every life stage, plus chewing lice — protecting your family as well as your dog.

💧

Waterproof formula

Stored in the skin's oil glands and released steadily for 30 days. Let it dry 24 hours, then swim away.

🐶

Gentle on puppies

Approved from 8 weeks and 5 lbs, and safe for breeding, pregnant or nursing dogs.

6

Six months of protection in one box

Six applicators, one per month — half a year of uninterrupted flea and tick cover without a repeat order.

How it works

Applied to one spot, the treatment spreads across your dog's entire skin surface through their natural oils and is stored in the sebaceous glands. Those glands act as a reservoir, topping the coat up continuously — which is why one dose keeps working for a full month, wet or dry.

Fipronil — disrupts the nervous system of fleas, ticks and chewing lice 9.8%
(S)-methoprene — insect growth regulator; stops eggs and larvae developing 8.8%
How Frontline Plus works on a dog's skin and coat

How to apply

  1. Remove the applicator. Use scissors to separate one blister, cut along the dotted line, then peel back the foil.
  2. Open it. Hold upright with the foil side facing you and snap the tip — away from your face and body.
  3. Find the spot. Part your dog's hair between the shoulder blades until you can see skin — one spot they can't turn around and lick.
  4. Apply. Place the tip just above the skin and squeeze out the entire contents in a single spot. Onto skin, not on top of the coat.
  5. Let it dry. Avoid touching the treated area. Wait a full 24 hours before bathing or swimming.
  6. Repeat every 30 days for continuous, year-round protection.

Frequently asked questions

How fast does it start working?

Fipronil begins killing on contact. A manufacturer study showed 100% of fleas killed within 12 hours of application.1 You may see fleas rise to the top of the coat as they die — that's the product working, not a new infestation.

When can my dog swim or have a bath?

Wait a full 24 hours after applying. Your dog should also be dry at the time of application. After that it's waterproof for the rest of the 30 days.

I have cats too — is that a problem?

Keep cats away from the treated dog for 24 hours or until the spot is completely dry. Never apply a dog product to a cat. If a cat is exposed or licks the treated area, call your vet straight away.

My dog is 24 lbs — can I use this box?

No. This box is for 5–22 lbs. Dogs 23–44 lbs need the medium (blue) box, 45–88 lbs the large (purple), and 89–132 lbs the extra-large (red). Never split or combine doses.

Is it safe for a pregnant or nursing dog?

Yes — Frontline Plus is approved for breeding, pregnant and lactating dogs, and for puppies from 8 weeks old.

I missed a month. What should I do?

Apply as soon as you remember, then wait a full 30 days before the next dose. Setting a phone reminder on application day is the easiest way to stay on schedule.

Customer photo review of Frontline Plus for Small Dogs 5-22 lbs – 6 Month Flea & Tick Treatment

My little girl stays home and only goes out to go potty. She’s an older girl and she does well with Frontline. She’s had Frontline for flea and tick control ever since I rescued her almost 4 years ago. I used it on all of my other dogs and I will trust it for my future pets as well. I think the price is appropriate for 3 months of medication.
